Ayodhya is an incredibly rewarding spiritual destination, but like any major pilgrimage site, it requires preparation. Our guides — who have led thousands of pilgrims here — share their top practical tips.
1. Book in Advance
Hotels fill up weeks ahead during Ram Navami, Deepotsav, Makar Sankranti and Vivah Panchami. Book accommodation at least 4–6 weeks ahead for festival periods, 2 weeks for regular visits.
2. Dress Traditionally — Always
Wearing traditional Indian clothing (kurta-pajama, salwar-kameez, dhoti, saree) is respectful, required at many temples and helps you blend in comfortably.
3. Keep Government ID Ready
Aadhaar, Voter ID or Passport is mandatory for entering Ram Mandir. Keep a physical or digital copy easily accessible.
4. Leave Leather at the Hotel
No leather items — belts, wallets, leather bags — are allowed inside temple premises. Use a small cloth bag and easy-to-remove footwear.
5. Start at Hanuman Garhi
By tradition, Hanuman must be sought before Ram. Hanuman Garhi is also less crowded in the early morning — a practical advantage.
6. Stay Hydrated
Carry a reusable water bottle (refillable at designated points near temples). Keep light snacks like dry fruits. No food allowed inside temple premises.
7. Hire a Local Expert Guide
Without a knowledgeable guide, you will miss the stories behind every stone. Trip2Ayodhya guides are certified scholars and deeply passionate devotees of Ayodhya.
8. Plan for the Saryu Aarti
The evening Saryu Ghat Aarti (around 7 PM) is one of the most soul-stirring experiences in India. Arrive 30 minutes early to secure a good spot.
9. Respect No-Photography Zones
Photography inside the sanctum of Ram Mandir is strictly prohibited. Clear signs indicate photography zones. Violating this rule results in removal from the premises.
10. Keep Your Booking Reference Handy
Trip2Ayodhya sends all booking details via WhatsApp for easy access at checkpoints and hotel check-ins. Save the message before you travel.
